EVENT OVERVIEW

Held in conjunction with The ExtraCare Charitable Trust UK launch of their new Hagley Road Village, Birmingham, delegates will have the unique opportunity of touring the new Village pre-opening and to participate in a conference held in a retirement village. The inaugural launch of AGEING-IN-PLACE UK 2013 focuses on enabling older adults to live affordably in their own homes, with support services that allow them to live independently for as long as they wish. This annual event aims to bring 120 senior level decision makers from international and local private, public and not-for-profit sector together to identify collaboration and investment opportunities that aim to change the future of ageing in UK through affordable housing and in-home care models.

PRE-CONFERENCE INDUSTRY TOUR

New Oscott Village




New Oscott Village is based in Erdington, and is a partnership with Birmingham City Council and housing partner Midland Heart (who own the Village’s rented apartments). The Village has 260 self-contained one and two bedroom apartments, 18 leisure facilities and is home to 330-plus residents aged 55 and over. 104 apartments are for affordable rent, 156 can be purchased or are available on a shared ownership basis. Care is delivered to up to a third of the community in their own homes, and is supported by an on-site team, which includes over 70 staff. A well-being service and sociable activity programmes support residents’ independence and health.


Pannel Croft Village



Pannel Croft Village is based in Newtown, Birmingham and is a regeneration project in partnership with Birmingham City Council, supporting a culturally diverse community. The Village has 180 self-contained one and two-bedroom apartments, 18 leisure facilities and is home to over 250 residents aged 55 and over. 144 apartments are for affordable rent, 36 can be purchased or are available on a shared ownership basis. The significant number of affordable rental homes is achieved, in part, through subsidy from The Department of Health (£3.2m) and The Homes and Communities Agency (£9m). Care, including support with dementia, is delivered to up to a third of the community in their own homes, and is provided by an on-site team, which includes over 30 staff.  A well-being service and sociable activity programmes support residents’ independence and health.


Queensridge Court, Oldbury 



Housing 21, in partnership with Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council and the Homes and Communities Agency, is delighted to present Queensridge Court. The development has been carefully designed to create a welcoming community, offering extensive facilities including residents' lounge, restaurant, hairdressing salon, guest suite, activity room and communal landscaped gardens.
